Biological age test Seoul: markers that matter
Your birthday tells you your age in years. Clinical markers tell you how well your metabolism, blood vessels and muscles are holding up, and what to work on.

A biological age test in Seoul estimates how your body is aging using measurable markers such as blood sugar, HbA1c, lipids, inflammation (hsCRP), blood pressure and body composition. At VEI Clinic in Apgujeong, Gangnam, Dr. HyunSung Park reviews these in English and uses them to shape a practical longevity plan, while being clear about each test's limits.
What a biological age test in Seoul really measures
Biological age is the idea that two people born in the same year can age at different rates. There is no single agreed test for it. Instead, a biological age test Seoul assessment at VEI Clinic combines well-studied clinical markers that predict future risk of heart disease, diabetes, frailty and other age-related conditions.
Dr. HyunSung Park, a board-certified internal medicine specialist and member of the Korean Institute of Functional Medicine, focuses on markers you can actually change. The value is not in a headline number, but in seeing which systems are aging faster than they should and tracking whether your efforts are working.
The markers we use
No single marker defines aging. A person with excellent cholesterol but low muscle mass and rising blood sugar has a different priority from someone with high hsCRP and high blood pressure. Looking at the pattern across markers is what makes the assessment useful.
- Metabolic: fasting glucose, HbA1c and, where useful, fasting insulin to assess insulin resistance
- Lipids: LDL, HDL, triglycerides and non-HDL cholesterol, with apolipoprotein B or lipoprotein(a) in selected cases
- Inflammation: high-sensitivity CRP (hsCRP), a marker linked to cardiovascular risk
- Organ function: liver enzymes and kidney function (eGFR)
- Blood pressure and resting heart rate
- Body composition: skeletal muscle mass, body fat percentage and visceral fat, since muscle loss and visceral fat both track with aging
- Selected extras: vitamin D, thyroid function, and in some cases hormone levels or abdominal ultrasound for fatty liver
Epigenetic clocks and other aging tests: honest limits
You may have seen DNA methylation tests, often called epigenetic clocks, that report a precise biological age. These are fascinating research tools and some are associated with health outcomes in large studies. However, results can vary between labs and repeat tests, they are not validated to diagnose disease or guide individual treatment, and there is limited evidence that changing your score changes your health.
Telomere length tests have similar limitations. We do not offer these as a substitute for clinical markers. If you have already done one, we are happy to discuss it, but your plan will be built on measurements with clearer meaning. A single snapshot also tells you less than a trend, so repeating core tests over time is more informative than any one result.
Commercial biological age calculators and app scores vary widely in how they are built. If a number worries you, the most useful next step is a conversation about the underlying measurements, not another test.
Turning results into a longevity plan
After testing, we go through each result and agree on priorities. For example, rising HbA1c and visceral fat point toward nutrition changes, strength training and possibly medication; a high hsCRP prompts a look for causes such as gum disease, smoking, excess weight or a recent infection; low muscle mass calls for resistance exercise and adequate protein.
The biggest levers for healthy aging remain consistent: not smoking, regular aerobic and strength exercise, good sleep, a mostly whole-food diet, moderate alcohol or none, and managing blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. Supplements or IV therapies are not a shortcut; we discuss them only where a deficiency or specific evidence supports them. Most people recheck key markers after a few months to see what has changed.
You receive a written summary of your results and targets, so you can track progress and share it with your doctor at home if you live outside Korea. Repeat testing uses the same methods each time, which makes changes easier to interpret.
Who it suits, and who should not rely on it
This assessment suits adults who want a data-driven starting point for prevention, people with a family history of heart disease or diabetes, and busy professionals who want clear targets. It is not a replacement for age-appropriate cancer screening or for investigating new symptoms.
If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting or sudden weakness, do not wait for a longevity assessment; call 119 or go to an emergency room. Unexplained weight loss, blood in stool or a new lump also need prompt medical review rather than a wellness test.
How it works
Goals consultation
Dr. Park reviews your history, family risk, lifestyle and what you want to achieve.
Fasting blood tests
Morning blood draw after 8 to 10 hours of fasting, plus blood pressure.
Body composition
Muscle, fat and visceral fat are measured on the same visit.
Plan and recheck
We set priorities and agree on when to repeat key markers.

Common questions
Is a biological age test in Seoul accurate?
No test gives a perfectly accurate biological age. At VEI Clinic, a biological age test in Seoul uses validated clinical markers such as HbA1c, lipids, hsCRP and body composition, which reliably reflect health risks even if they do not produce one precise number.
Do you offer epigenetic clock tests?
We focus on clinical markers with clear medical meaning. Epigenetic clocks are promising research tools, but they are not yet validated to guide individual treatment, so we do not rely on them for your plan.
How is this different from a standard checkup?
A standard checkup screens for disease. This assessment looks more closely at metabolic health, inflammation and muscle-to-fat balance, sets targets for prevention, and tracks change over time.
Do I need to fast?
Yes, fasting for 8 to 10 hours gives the most accurate glucose, insulin and triglyceride results. Water is fine, and take usual medications unless told otherwise.
How often should I repeat the tests?
Many people recheck after three to six months when making lifestyle changes, then yearly once stable. The doctor will suggest timing based on your results.
Can I really lower my biological age?
You can often improve the underlying markers, such as blood sugar, blood pressure, inflammation and muscle mass, through lifestyle and, when needed, medication. Those improvements are linked to lower risk of age-related disease.
