Quick intro

VEI Clinic Apgujeong offers English-friendly body composition testing (multi-frequency BIA) for travelers and Seoul residents who want a fast snapshot of muscle, fat, and water balance—plus practical coaching. We’re on the 3rd floor of Beneheim City (162 Apgujeong-ro), a short walk from Apgujeong Station Exit 5.

What is body composition testing?

A non-invasive, clothes-on assessment using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) with bare-foot electrodes and hand grips. It estimates:

  • Skeletal muscle mass & lean body mass
  • Body fat % & fat mass
  • Visceral fat estimate / waist-related risk indicators
  • Segmental analysis (arms/legs/trunk balance)
  • Total body water (intra/extra-cellular), phase angle (device-dependent)
  • Basal metabolic rate (BMR) and fitness/weight targets
Note: BIA is a screening/monitoring tool. For medical diagnoses that require imaging (e.g., bone density), your doctor may recommend additional tests.

Who it’s useful for

  • Fitness & weight-management planning (baseline and progress checks)
  • Travel/jet-lag recovery programs and IV support pairing (optional)
  • Metabolic health check-ins (blood pressure, glucose, lipids—when indicated)
  • Pre-/post-procedure tracking for aesthetic or rehab programs

What you’ll receive

  • A printout + English summary with key metrics highlighted
  • A simple action plan (protein targets, activity guidance, hydration)
  • Optional links to medical weight-management, IV therapy, or shockwave/physio referrals when appropriate

How to prepare (best accuracy)

  • No large meals for 2–3 hours beforehand; arrive normally hydrated
  • Avoid alcohol 24h and vigorous exercise 8–12h before testing
  • Empty bladder within 30 minutes of the test
  • Remove metal accessories; wipe off lotions/creams on hands/feet
  • For menstruation, edema, or acute illness, results may fluctuate—ask if you should reschedule

Who should avoid or discuss first

  • Pacemakers/implantable electronic devices (BIA current is contraindicated)
  • Pregnancy (speak with the clinician about timing/alternatives)
  • Open wounds/infections on contact sites or severe fluid imbalance states

Visit flow (what to expect)

  1. Check-in & brief consult (goals, medical history, meds)
  2. BIA scan (shoes/socks off; ~2–3 minutes)
  3. Review of metrics + personalized tips
  4. Follow-up plan (re-scan interval, optional labs or services)

Timing & follow-up

  • In-clinic time: ~15–20 minutes (including review)
  • Progress checks: every 4–8 weeks or as part of a weight/fitness program

Pricing & insurance notes

  • Fees vary by single scan vs. bundle and whether you add doctor consult/labs
  • Most visitors pay upfront and use an itemized English receipt for reimbursement
  • Ask for a written quote if combining with IV therapy or medical weight-loss visits
