Quick Intro
Feeling feverish in Seoul? VEI Clinic Apgujeong is an English-friendly internal-medicine clinic offering
same-day fever evaluation with
rapid testing and labs. We’re on the 3rd floor of
Beneheim City, 162 Apgujeong-ro, a short walk from
Apgujeong Station (Exit 5).
We primarily see
adults and older teens; for younger children, we coordinate with nearby pediatric partners as needed.
What We Do for Fever (tailored—no one-size-fits-all)
- Same-day assessment by an internal-medicine physician
- Rapid tests: Influenza A/B, COVID-19, strep throat; urinalysis for UTI
- Targeted labs: CBC, CMP, CRP/ESR, blood cultures (when indicated)
- Imaging referrals: chest x-ray/ultrasound via nearby partner centers
- Travel-aware workups (case-by-case): malaria smear/rapid test, dengue/typhoid send-outs, stool tests
- Treatment: evidence-based prescriptions (antivirals/antibiotics only when appropriate), anti-nausea care, hydration (oral or IV if indicated)
- Documentation: sick notes for work/school, fit-to-fly guidance when appropriate
We focus on tests and treatments that change your plan—not excessive panels.
Visit Flow (Typically 30–60 Minutes)
- Check-in & history → symptoms, travel/exposures, meds/allergies, medical conditions
- Vitals & focused exam → temperature, oxygen, hydration status, exam by system
- Point-of-care tests/labs → rapid swabs, urinalysis; blood tests as indicated
- Plan & prescriptions → clear steps in English; isolation and return-to-work guidance
- Follow-up → when to check in, warning signs, and how to reach us
When to Use the ER (don’t wait for a clinic)
Go to emergency care if you have:
- Chest pain, severe shortness of breath, or oxygen saturation staying low
- Severe headache with stiff neck, confusion, fainting, seizures
- Rash with bruising/bleeding, or severe abdominal pain
- Persistent vomiting, inability to keep fluids, signs of severe dehydration (very dark urine, dizziness)
- Pregnancy with high fever, or immunocompromised status (e.g., chemotherapy, transplant) with any significant fever
- Recent travel with rapidly worsening fever/chills (e.g., malaria risk)
Home Care & Prevention (general guidance)
- Hydrate: water or oral rehydration solution; small, frequent sips if nauseated
- Rest and light, bland meals as tolerated
- Fever reducers: use acetaminophen or ibuprofen as labeled (avoid duplicates; ask us about interactions). Avoid aspirin in children/teens and in suspected dengue.
- Infection control: mask, hand hygiene, avoid close contact until cleared
- Track: temperature, symptoms, and fluids; bring notes to your visit
These are general tips—your clinician will personalize advice after evaluation.
Special Situations We Consider
- Flu/COVID windows for antivirals (early treatment helps)
- UTI/pyelonephritis in patients with urinary symptoms
- Pneumonia red flags (breathing rate, oxygen, chest findings)
- Travel-related fevers (malaria/dengue/typhoid) based on itinerary and timing
- Medication-related fevers or drug interactions
- Heat illness vs. infectious causes during hot/humid periods
What to Bring
- Photo ID (passport if visiting)
- Medication & supplement list (exact names/doses)
- Recent travel details (countries/cities, dates, mosquito exposure, undercooked foods)
- Any prior test results and known medical conditions
- Work/school forms if you need a sick note
