Anti-aging clinic in Gangnam, from the inside out

Gangnam has many clinics that change how you look. A medical anti-aging approach asks why you feel and look older, and treats that first.

Quick answer

VEI Clinic is a medical anti-aging clinic in Gangnam, near Apgujeong Station. Instead of focusing only on appearance, Dr. HyunSung Park, an internal medicine specialist, looks at metabolism, hormones, sleep, gut health and skin together, using tests to find what is driving how you feel and age, then builds a measurable plan.

What a medical anti-aging clinic in Gangnam does differently

Most of what is marketed as anti-aging in Gangnam is cosmetic: lasers, fillers and skin boosters that change the surface. Those can have a place, but they do not address the reasons people often come to an anti-aging clinic in Gangnam in the first place: low energy, weight gain around the middle, poor sleep, brain fog, or skin and hair that seem to have aged quickly.

At VEI Clinic, anti-aging is approached as internal medicine. Dr. HyunSung Park, a board-certified internal medicine specialist and member of the Korean Institute of Functional Medicine, starts by looking for medical drivers: insulin resistance, thyroid or other hormone changes, nutrient deficiencies, gut problems, poor sleep and chronic inflammation. Treating those is often what makes the biggest difference to how you feel.

Many of these drivers are common and treatable. Fatty liver, prediabetes and an underactive thyroid can all go unnoticed for years. Low vitamin D, iron deficiency and poor sleep quality are frequent findings among busy professionals in Seoul. Addressing them does not reverse age, but it can change how you feel and lower your long-term risk.

The four areas we look at

Gut health and nutrition run through all four, and testing such as food sensitivity, gut microbiome or SIBO breath tests is offered when your symptoms justify it.

  • Metabolism: blood sugar, insulin, lipids, liver fat and body composition, since metabolic health underpins much of ageing
  • Hormones: thyroid function and, where clinically relevant, sex hormones and cortisol, interpreted alongside your symptoms rather than in isolation
  • Sleep and stress: sleep habits, possible sleep apnea, and how stress affects energy and weight
  • Skin and hair from within: nutrition, iron, vitamin D, protein intake and hormone factors that show up as dull skin or hair thinning

Programs that may be part of your plan

Depending on your results, a plan may combine lifestyle changes with medical options offered at the clinic: a longevity checkup and biological-age markers, medical weight loss where appropriate, IV therapy or vitamin injections for documented deficiencies, hair loss treatment, and consultation-based stem cell programs.

Each option comes with an honest explanation of the evidence. IV vitamins, glutathione and NAD+, for example, have limited evidence for anti-aging effects in healthy people, and we will say so. Exercise, sleep, not smoking and controlling blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol remain the most strongly supported anti-aging measures.

Who this approach suits, and who it may not

Medical anti-aging suits adults who want to understand their health in more depth, have symptoms they cannot explain, or want a structured plan they can measure over time.

If your goal is purely cosmetic, such as wrinkle treatment, contouring of the face or surgery, a dermatology or plastic surgery clinic is the better fit, and we can suggest where to go. Hormone treatments are not appropriate for everyone, including people with certain cancers or clotting history, and are only considered after testing and a full discussion of risks.

It also suits people who have already tried supplements or wellness treatments without clear benefit and want a more structured, test-based approach. If you have a known medical condition, such as diabetes or a thyroid disorder, the plan is built around your existing treatment, not in place of it.

What a first anti-aging visit looks like

The first visit is a consultation, not a sales session. The doctor asks about your energy, sleep, weight changes, digestion, menstrual or hormonal symptoms where relevant, skin and hair changes, exercise, alcohol, stress and family history. He also reviews any recent checkup results you bring, so tests are not repeated unnecessarily.

From there he suggests a focused set of tests, explains what each one is for and what it costs, and agrees with you which to do. When results are back, you go through them together and choose a small number of priorities. Small, sustained changes tend to work better than a long list of treatments.

Limits and when to seek urgent care

No clinic can stop ageing, and you should be wary of anyone who promises to reverse it. Some symptoms blamed on age need prompt investigation: unexplained weight loss, a new lump, blood in the stool, chest pain on exertion or sudden weakness. For chest pain, stroke symptoms or severe shortness of breath, call 119 or go to an emergency room.

Results also take time and effort on your part. Medical treatment can support changes in sleep, diet and activity, but rarely replaces them.

FAQ

Common questions

What makes VEI an anti-aging clinic in Gangnam rather than a cosmetic clinic?

The focus is internal medicine: metabolism, hormones, sleep, gut health and nutrition, assessed with tests. Treatments are chosen to address medical drivers rather than only surface appearance.

Do you offer Botox, fillers or lasers?

Our focus is medical anti-aging rather than facial cosmetic procedures. If you want those treatments, a dermatology or plastic surgery clinic is more appropriate, and we can suggest options.

Will you prescribe hormone therapy?

Only if testing and symptoms support it and the benefits outweigh the risks for you. Many people improve with treatment of thyroid problems, sleep, weight or nutrient deficiencies without hormone therapy.

How long before I notice changes?

It depends on what is found. Correcting a deficiency may help within weeks, while metabolic changes typically take a few months. That is why plans include a re-test.

Is anti-aging medicine evidence-based?

Some parts are well supported, such as exercise, blood pressure and glucose control, and treating deficiencies. Others, like IV NAD+ or biological-age testing, have limited evidence, and we explain the difference clearly.

Can I start while visiting Seoul for a short time?

Yes. The first visit and tests can often be done in a day or two, with results and follow-up discussed remotely afterwards.

This page is general information reviewed by a physician and is not a substitute for a personal consultation. Treatment suitability, benefits and risks differ for each person and are discussed with you before any care. In an emergency in Korea, call 119.
