Quick answer

IV therapy cost in Seoul depends mainly on the ingredients, the dose, any add-ons, and whether you choose a single session or a package. At VEI Clinic in Apgujeong, Gangnam, Dr. HyunSung Park recommends a drip after a consultation and you receive the full price before treatment. Wellness IV drips are generally not covered by national health insurance.

What determines IV therapy cost in Seoul

When people compare IV therapy cost in Seoul, they often compare drip names. Names tell you little. Two drips both called "immune" can contain very different ingredients and doses. The price of an IV drip mainly reflects what is in the bag, how much of it, and how long it takes to give safely.

At VEI Clinic, the doctor first decides whether a drip is appropriate for you at all, then which ingredients make sense. You get the total price for that specific drip before anything is started, so you can say yes, ask for a simpler option, or decline.

The main cost drivers

These factors explain most of the difference between one drip and another:

  • Ingredients: basic hydration fluids cost the least; vitamin and mineral blends cost more; NAD+ and high-dose glutathione are among the more expensive ingredients
  • Dose: a higher dose of vitamin C or NAD+ uses more product and often needs a longer, slower infusion
  • Infusion time: NAD+ must run slowly to avoid side effects, which means more chair and nursing time
  • Add-ons: anti-nausea medicine, an extra vitamin, or an intramuscular shot such as B12 or vitamin D adds to the total
  • Testing: if blood tests are needed first, for example to check vitamin levels, that is a separate cost
  • Packages: some people choose a series of drips; we explain what a package includes and whether repeating the drip is actually useful for you

NAD+ versus vitamin drips: why the gap is large

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme involved in cellular energy. It is popular as a longevity drip, but human evidence that IV NAD+ improves energy, ageing or brain function is still early and limited. It is also more costly and slower to give than a standard vitamin drip, and can cause flushing, nausea, cramping or chest tightness if run too fast.

A standard vitamin drip, such as a Myers'-style blend of magnesium, B vitamins and vitamin C, is cheaper and quicker. If your goal is rehydration after illness or a late night, a hydration drip is often all you need. The doctor will tell you honestly if a cheaper option fits your goal just as well.

Insurance: why IV wellness drips are usually non-covered

Korea's National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) covers treatment that is medically necessary. Wellness IV drips, vitamin infusions and NAD+ are classed as non-covered (bi-geubyeo) care, so you pay the full fee whether or not you are enrolled in NHIS.

Where IV fluids are part of treating an illness, such as severe dehydration from gastroenteritis, part of the visit may be handled differently. Travel and expat insurers vary widely; some reimburse medically necessary infusions and very few cover wellness drips. We provide itemized receipts and English medical documents on request so you can submit a claim.

What is included in the quoted price

So that you can compare like with like, ask what a quote covers. At VEI Clinic, the total we give you before treatment states the doctor consultation, the drip ingredients and doses, nursing care and monitoring during the infusion, and any add-ons you have agreed to, such as anti-nausea medicine or an extra injection.

Blood tests are quoted separately, because not everyone needs them. If the doctor thinks a test would change what drip is right for you, or whether you need one at all, he will explain why and what it costs before you decide. You are never charged for an add-on you did not agree to.

Red flags when comparing prices

A very low headline price can hide add-ons charged at the end, or a drip given without any medical review. Be cautious of anywhere that promises a drip will cure fatigue, boost immunity for months, or detox your liver. Those claims are not supported by good evidence.

Ask any clinic who reviews your health before the drip, what exactly is in the bag and at what dose, and whether the quoted price is the final total. A reputable clinic will answer all three clearly.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the typical IV therapy cost in Seoul?

It varies a lot by ingredients, dose and add-ons, so a single figure is not meaningful. Contact VEI Clinic with what you are hoping to achieve and we can explain the options. You always receive the exact total before any drip is started.

Does Korean national health insurance pay for IV drips?

Wellness and vitamin drips are non-covered care in Korea, so NHIS does not pay for them. IV fluids given to treat a diagnosed illness can be handled differently, and the doctor will explain this at the time.

Is a package of drips cheaper?

Packages can lower the cost per session, but only make sense if repeated drips are useful for you. Ask the doctor whether a series is justified for your goal before committing.

Why does NAD+ cost more than other drips?

The ingredient itself is costlier, and it has to be infused slowly to avoid side effects, which takes more time and nursing care. Evidence for its benefits in healthy people remains limited, which is worth weighing against the cost.

Can I claim an IV drip on my travel insurance?

It depends on your policy. Medically necessary treatment, such as fluids for severe dehydration, is more likely to be reimbursed than a wellness drip. We can give you an itemized receipt and an English medical note to support a claim.

Will I be charged for the consultation if I decide not to have a drip?

Ask when you book, since this depends on what the visit involves. We explain any consultation fee upfront so you are never surprised.
