Quick answer

Cellulite treatment in Seoul at VEI Clinic in Apgujeong, Gangnam, uses non-invasive devices such as Endermologie, ACCENT PRIME and VACUMED to improve the look of dimpled skin. Evidence shows modest, often temporary improvement rather than removal. Dr. HyunSung Park's team assesses your skin, weight and circulation first and plans sessions individually.

What cellulite treatment in Seoul can and cannot do

Cellulite is the dimpled, uneven texture seen most often on the thighs, buttocks and hips. It happens when fibrous bands connecting the skin to deeper tissue pull down while fat cells push up between them. It affects a large majority of adult women, including those who are slim and active, because women's connective tissue is arranged differently from men's. Hormones, genetics, skin thickness, weight changes and circulation all play a part.

Cellulite treatment in Seoul at VEI Clinic aims to improve the appearance of the skin, not to cure cellulite. No non-surgical treatment has been shown to eliminate it permanently. Studies of massage, suction and energy-based devices generally show modest improvements in smoothness, and benefits tend to fade without maintenance. We prefer to tell you this upfront so you can decide whether treatment is worthwhile for you.

The technologies we use

Each device works in a different way. Depending on your assessment, we may recommend one or a combination.

Combining technologies is sometimes suggested, for example mechanical massage alongside radiofrequency, but more treatment does not always mean a better result. We recommend a combination only if your assessment suggests it adds something useful.

  • Endermologie: a mechanical device that uses motorized rollers and gentle suction to mobilize skin and underlying tissue. It is intended to stimulate circulation and lymphatic flow and may temporarily improve skin texture.
  • ACCENT PRIME: an energy-based device that combines ultrasound and radiofrequency. Radiofrequency heats the deeper skin layers to encourage collagen remodeling and skin tightening, while ultrasound targets subcutaneous fat.
  • VACUMED: a device that applies intermittent negative pressure to the lower body, usually during light exercise, designed to support circulation. Evidence for its effect on cellulite specifically is limited.

What the evidence says

Research on cellulite devices is mostly small, short-term studies, often without strong control groups. Radiofrequency-based treatments have the most consistent data for modest improvements in skin laxity and texture. Mechanical massage and suction can produce visible but usually temporary smoothing. Results are often better in people with mild to moderate cellulite and stable weight.

Lifestyle changes help support results. Reaching a stable, healthy weight, building leg and gluteal muscle through resistance training, staying active and avoiding smoking all affect how skin looks. Rapid weight swings can make cellulite more visible, so we generally advise addressing weight first if it is changing quickly.

Creams, wraps and supplements marketed for cellulite generally have weak evidence. Some caffeine or retinol creams may cause slight, temporary changes in skin appearance, but they do not alter the underlying structure. We would rather you spend money on approaches with some supporting evidence, or save it entirely if treatment is unlikely to meet your expectations.

Who it suits, and who should avoid it

Device-based cellulite treatment may suit adults with mild to moderate cellulite who are close to a stable weight and want a non-invasive option with no downtime. It is not suitable for everyone. We check for conditions that make treatment unsafe or unwise.

Your expectations matter as much as your medical history. If you are hoping for a dramatic or permanent change, we will say so honestly if a device is unlikely to deliver it.

  • Pregnancy, or breastfeeding for some devices
  • Pacemakers or other implanted electronic devices, for radiofrequency treatments
  • Active skin infection, open wounds or rash in the treatment area
  • Deep vein thrombosis, varicose veins with inflammation, or bleeding disorders
  • Certain cancers, uncontrolled heart disease or recent surgery in the area

Limits and when to see a doctor

After treatment, mild redness, warmth or tenderness can occur and usually settles quickly. Severe cellulite or loose skin after major weight loss may need surgical or injectable procedures that we do not offer; we can refer you to a hospital.

Note that cellulitis is a completely different condition: a bacterial skin infection causing a red, hot, swollen, painful area, sometimes with fever. It needs prompt medical treatment. If redness spreads quickly, you have a high fever or feel very unwell, seek urgent care or call 119.

FAQ

Common questions

Does cellulite treatment in Seoul get rid of cellulite permanently?

No non-surgical treatment has been shown to remove cellulite permanently. Devices can improve the look of the skin for many people, but results are usually modest and need maintenance. We discuss realistic goals at your assessment.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the device, the severity of cellulite, the area and your skin. Most plans involve a series of sessions followed by occasional maintenance. We set the number after assessing you rather than using a fixed package.

Does losing weight help cellulite?

Weight loss can help in some people, especially those with excess weight, but it does not always reduce cellulite and very rapid loss can make skin look looser. Building muscle and keeping weight stable are often more useful.

Is Endermologie painful?

Most people describe it as a firm massage. The intensity can be adjusted. Some people experience mild tenderness afterward, but there is no downtime.

Can men get cellulite treatment?

Yes, although cellulite is much less common in men because of differences in connective tissue structure. The same assessment applies, and men may also benefit from contouring for stubborn fat.

Can I combine cellulite treatment with weight-loss medicine?

Yes, for some people. If overall weight is the main concern, addressing it first or alongside contouring often gives better results. Dr. Park can advise whether a medical weight-loss plan makes sense for you.
